Launch of Aspire2lead Network

August saw the launch of our Aspire2lead Network and we were delighted to welcome so many people to our first event. The chat was lively and motivating, and we welcomed several of our inspirational Ambassadors who gave us the benefit of their experiences.

The Aspire2lead Ambassador programme is here to bolster our Aspire2lead Network. The idea being that our Ambassadors attend the networks and offer you their wealth of knowledge and experience. Members benefit from access to the best women leaders in business who are passionate about helping pave the way for other women, to be leaders in business.
If you are interested in joining, please get in touch!
Over the next couple of months, we would like to showcase some of our amazingly inspirational Ambassadors:

She is also Women in Business accredited following the Rose Review, which was launched by her CEO Alison Rose, set out to identify the disparity between male and female entrepreneurs when starting and scaling a business.

Karen Milner: Karen is a Director of Balance Together Ltd and is passionate about supporting organisations to improve their gender-balance. As a former HR Director, Karen is commercially focussed and likes nothing more than identifying the levers in organisations that drive success. As well as co-directing her own business, Karen works as an Investors in People Practitioner, helping organisations across Yorkshire and Humber and into the North-East to achieve their ambitions through effective people management practices.

Teresa Davidson: Teresa has been recognised by independent legal guide Chambers UK since its 2012 edition, which said, “following enthusiastic recommendations from a number of clients: “She is approachable and keeps people informed without bombarding them with information.” Her expertise ranges from financial provision to private children law, and she is noted for her ability in matters involving civil partnership and unmarried partners.”

Catherine West: Catherine has considerable knowledge of delivering all aspects of the Finance function and leadership including financial strategy, financial control, budget setting, working capital, fund raising and change management. She is also committed to providing opportunities to young people through the Government’s apprenticeship programme and leading and motivating staff.

As the Aspire2lead Network aims to be a different kind of network, we took some time to speak with the participants to discuss which topics they wanted to cover for the future. This really is a group for you, that will support you as you develop and grow your career aspirations.
October’s event will be on Investing in yourself – how to maximize your potential and manage your time whilst looking after you.

Followed by:

November’s: 04.11.21- A new type of leader – leadership has changed, have you noticed!?
December’s: 02.12.21 -Visibility – how to digitally market yourself at work or in business now!
January’s: 06.01.21- Ask for what you want – build confidence kick the “disease to please” habit!

After two successful meets we are excited to see the continued growth of the network and watch our attendees flourish under the guidance of the Ambassadors.

Aspire2lead is a project part-funded by the European Social Fund that helps support women in employment and SMEs in York and North Yorkshire. We offer support for those returning to work and to the companies they may be returning to.
